Walking Through Fear to Get to Success
When I decided to restructure my business for greater success, I made a bold move: I signed up for an expensive coaching program. It wasn’t an easy decision. The moment that familiar objection crept into my mind—“I can’t afford it”—I knew I had to reframe my thinking. I shifted my mindset to, “I can’t afford not to.”
As someone who always prided myself on doing things independently, asking for help felt foreign and uncomfortable. But I had to be honest with myself—I needed guidance, support, and a proven system. I needed someone to provide step-by-step instructions on how to restructure my business and hold my hand through the process.
That’s when I found a mentor who had turned coaching into a science. He had mastered a system that generated millions of dollars a year. He understood the challenges, the struggles, and, most importantly, what worked and what didn’t.
When I got on the phone with my prospective coach, I had already decided I was ready for change. I told myself, “If it’s meant to be, the resources will show up.” But when I heard the cost of the 90-day program, I froze.
In that moment, I was faced with a pivotal decision. A voice inside reminded me, “This is part of the process, Kaleah. If you can’t invest in high-end coaching, how can you expect your clients to?” I realized it was time to move beyond the DIY approach and follow the example of the most successful people I admired. They all attributed their success to mentors who had guided them.
Joining the “big leagues” meant playing at a whole new level. It meant taking risks that my old self might have shied away from.
Taking the Leap
I didn’t have the cash sitting in my bank account. If I had waited for the “perfect time,” I would have waited forever. Instead, I chose to invest in myself, trusting that my future success would pay for the program.
Yes, I went into debt. And yes, it was scary. But the stories of others inspired me—people who had invested everything they had, maxed out credit cards, or even mortgaged their homes to work with the right coach. Those who succeeded didn’t just see the investment as a financial leap; they saw it as a declaration of their belief in themselves.
This investment wasn’t just about money. It was about my mindset. Did I believe in my ability to succeed? Could I follow through on what I was being taught? Was I ready to embody the version of myself who operated at a higher level of abundance and success?
I was terrified—but I said yes.
The Transformation
Making the investment was just the beginning. I showed up to every session, did the work, and aligned myself with the version of me that I aspired to be—the millionaire me. I asked myself, “What would she do? How would she handle challenges?”
It wasn’t easy. I faced fear and self-doubt at every turn. But instead of focusing on the possibility of failure, I visualized success. I committed to embodying the confident, capable, and thriving version of myself.
Through this process, I learned to manage my fear instead of letting it control me. I stopped playing small. I saw that success wasn’t about extraordinary talent or luck—it was about showing up, doing the work, and having the courage to take risks.
What I Learned
One of the most valuable lessons my mentor taught me was this: success isn’t reserved for the extraordinary. It’s for those who are willing to do the work, take the risks, and align themselves with their vision.
He didn’t have any special skills when he started. His success came from trial and error, persistence, and a mindset focused on abundance. Like him, I learned to trust my ideas, follow my inspiration, and live a life I loved.
Your Turn
When you’re ready to step into a higher version of yourself, you have to let go of the old. Your fears, limiting beliefs, and doubts will surface, but they are part of the process. Walking through them is how you grow, transform, and achieve your dreams.
If I hadn’t taken the leap, I wouldn’t be where I am today. And I couldn’t guide others through their own fears and into their success.
If you’re ready to go to the next level in your life, be willing to take risks. Be willing to ask for help. Believe in yourself, even when it feels scary. That’s how you become unstoppable.
